About JollysFastVNC for Mac

JollysFastVNC for Mac is a secure ARD and VNC client for Mac OS X. Those are used when the connection preferences have a default value. So if you want every connection to have just 16 bit by default set that in the global preferences. The ServerType setting is used for dectection on how keyboard and mouse events are send to the client. Automatic should work, except for the Vine server where you have to explicitly use the Mac ServerType setting.

Security Type: Normal VNC connections are unencrypted ( except for the password which is send encrypted ).

SSL Using a SSL capable VNC server you can use a fully encrypted session. You can enable your vnc server with Stunnel.

SSH This will create a ssh session to your server and then start the vnc connection by creating a SSH Tunnel. This way all traffic is encrypted and your server does not need an open VNC server. Currently password authentication is not supported, but key based authentication is.

Keyboard input: Normal On a connection to a Apples Remote Server the Remote Keyboard layout is used, regardless of your local keyboard layout. On a connection to a PC/Linux machine the local keys are sent.
